About Us

full house on opening nightThe State Theatre Center for the Arts originally opened in 1922 as a "picture palace" and a vaudeville house.

In 1989 a group of business leaders and townspeople formed the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium and purchased the building to create an arts center in downtown Uniontown. Since then the theatre has presented 21 season of events. Our seasons include nationally touring, professional performances of musicals, big bands, plays, and more.

The theatre offers an Education Series each year. Professional theatre for the young is presented as a field trip opportunity for public schools, private and homeschooling groups making the theatre an extension of the classroom.

A classic film series is offered which brings the theatre full circle, back to its picture palace beginnings. Classic films are shown on the Big Screen at a minimal price one Friday a month. Special holiday films and film festivals are added in throughout the season.

The theatre serves the community as a great place for local events, dance recitals, fundraisers and civic functions. If you'd like more information on how your group can rent the state for an event, please call 724-439-1360 or check out the rental information on this site. If you'd like to serve on the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium, please contact the box office at 724-439-1360.

The mission of the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium, Inc, as owners of The State Theatre Center for the Arts located in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, is to focus on the operation and management of the theatre's broad variety of events. As a non-profit community organization, the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium fosters and creates artistic enrichment and enjoyment through diverse theatrical presentations for the residents of Southwestern Pennsylvania by providing for the performing, exhibiting and teaching of the fine arts. The Theatre is accessible to community, government, education, civic and business organizations for uses to encourage increased tourism and to bolster the economic development of Fayette County and the surrounding areas.
