A Community Center for Entertainment and The Performing Arts
Thanks to generous grants and donations, the once vacant State Theatre is
again a vibrant community center. With support from the community, the Greater
Uniontown Heritage Consortium purchased and reopened the vacant State Theatre
in 1990. The Theatre now features over 30 performances annually, offering
world-class and local performing arts productions, musical concerts, country-and-western
shows, comedian performances, and educational programs.
Renovation of the State Theatre
New ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical systems were installed in the State Theatre. New seats in the orchestra, upper orchestra, and front balcony provide additional space and more comfort for theatre goers. The new marquee, modern in its components yet keeping with the Theatres' architectural tradition, takes the renovations to the outside of the theatre. Future projects will include seat restoration in the back balcony, renovation of the first floor and basement and waterproofing of the exterior east wall.
